5/9/08 08:33 am - Peaceful

Today's meditation was peaceful. I was relaxed, my mind was pretty empty, nothing major happened, but I was totally relaxed without falling asleep, or feeling like I am nodding off. What a great way to end the week! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Blessings.

5/8/08 07:59 am

After yesterday's revealing meditation things today was rather quiet. I am so tired again today. It seems that now , when I wake up during the night, I have a harder time falling back asleep. Something I have NEVER experienced in my life before. I have always had a gift for sleeping and falling asleep easily..I don't want to lose this gift! :)

But there were some college kids out in the parking lot last night at 1:30 AM bouncing a soccer ball, and I just couldn't get the thudding out of my mind to fall back to sleep right away - how annoying!

Anyway, this meditation today was good, physically. I have been coughing sometimes at night. I am not sure why. However, Nimue, has been having more coughing/ asthma attacks lately too - so ,maybe there is something in our house that is causing this, but I can't figure out what. Anyway, my chest was feeling a little tight this morning, but after my breathing excersises, my lungs really opened up and it felt a lot better. So I can now really understand how meditation could really help people with asthma.

5/7/08 08:23 am - Dragons

Today's meditation was really good. I knew yesterday that I needed to start staying in a sitting position the entire time - for me this always seems to work the best - not only for keeping my concentration, but also for having better vision. So today I stayed in my sitting position, and I was very disciplined with myself. Whenever my mind began to wander, I brought my focus right back to my breath, a chakra I was working on, or a visualization. My mind really seemed to respond to this. I kept both of my stones, the leopard jasper and the kambaba jasper in my right hand - as this is the hand that intakes energy into the body.

During my Free Swim, my mind immediately went to this question of Dragons and what they mean in my cosmology. Over the past two days I have been pondering the question about if the Dragon is a representation of my spirit and if so, what is the meaning of the quadrant Dragons. Through meditation I was lead to understand that since the elements are inside of all of us, these quadrant dragons represent various parts of my personality.

For example, the Earth Dragon represents, well my earthiness - that nurturing side to me, the side that wants to nest and grow things and eat fresh things, take care of my body, animals and the planet. This dragon was revealed to me almost immediately when I began these meditations, now I understand, because it is the most dominant side of my personality.

Then there is Air - ever moving, ever changing, it is the side of me that always wants to explore, travel, try different things, get out and move with the wind so to speak. These two sides of my personality have always been at odds with each other - Earth, Nurturing and Grounding and Sky/Air - moving and changing. Although these divergent elements have created a lot of personal havoc in my life in previous years, I think I have learned to find a balance here.

Then there is Fire - passion, willfulness, spice, flamboyance. Definatly a part of my personality but to a lesser degree. It comes out at various times hard and strong - my passions are always a strong undercurrent and motivator in my life, but I have become, the older I get, more laid back and understanding of people's differences, and so that heat and fire is not always with me, only when I really care deeply for something and take up a battle I must fight. Then there is no losing.

Then there is Water, the element of the moon, lunar aspects and mystery. The Cauldron of rebirth. Dark, yet comforting and soothing, but greatly unknown and misunderstood.

So I asked to see a physical representation of "my Spirit Dragon" and what I saw was a gigantic, black snaking dragon, kind of like the small bits and pieces I get when looking for the elusive Water Dragon - who still has not fully revealed itself - but seems to be a kind of Loch Ness Dragon image.  I was confused for a minute and a little disappointed, I should point out - I always thought my dragon would look a certain way and this was not it (part of that fire flamboyance coming out)...but then I realized that it is the Water Dragon, and right now since I am on a path to spiritual discovery, in the unknown, full of mystery as yet unrevealed, it would make perfect sense that this aspect of my personality, this element is the most dominant right now, and therefore, the image is that of the Water Dragon at this point in my life.

Whew! :)

5/6/08 08:19 am

Today's meditation went well. I feel like I am really beginning to connect to the elements and understand that they don't really stand alone. Just like everything else in this world, they work together and they work with each other and do not exist without each other. I think in beginning to accept and understand this, I am feeling like they are becoming more tangible.

The Tree Meditation went well today as well. I have been experimenting with breathing excersises - breathe in through the nose, breathe out through the mouth - silently and also loudly. I find that making sound during meditation helps to keep me grounded and focused. If I hum as I visualize my roots going into the earth, it feels more powerful and if I sing one long "ah" note as I breathe out the white light, it feels better too - as compared to doing it without sound.

At some point during my meditation, I got some kind of a message about a 2nd floor office building - that there was some kind of energy or something happening on the 1st floor or basement that is causing a problem on the second floor. I have no idea what this can relate to - as I don't work in an office...so maybe something will come up later about it.

Also, I need to figure out a way to stay in a sitting position during my free swim meditation. Now that I have the leopard jasper to go on my third eye chakra, I have been lying down, but that really doesn't work too well for me.

Any suggestions?

5/5/08 08:24 am - Monday and Sleepless Nights

Well, as seemingly usual on a Sunday night, I did not get a very good night's sleep last night.  But this time it is for a different reason. We watched I am  Legend, and it just confirmed the fact that I cannot watch scary movies anymore. I have never really been very good at watching them - when I was younger they used to give me nightmares for weeks on end. Now, they just make me think too much, and I actually get too wrapped up in it. I think it has to do with my empathy. It comes in really handy when I meet new people and can read them easily, and when I need to put myself in someone elses shoes to understand where they are coming from, but in movies, where innocent creatures, like animals, get hurt or something from something a stupid human does, it just puts me over the edge.  It may also have to do with the fact that I now understand more than ever that there is both good and evil in this world - and evil things that are "just in movies" can become a reality - perhaps not literally, but they always say, if you dream it, it can happen - usually meant to motivate people to reach their dreams, but can't it go the other way too?

So I stuck to my meditation this morning, because I felt like I really needed it - to put some positive engery into the house and myself. But I had a hard time focusing and staying awake. During my Tree meditation, as I brought up the white earth energy through my extended roots, as I breathed out, I also blew the energy out of my mouth, giving it back to the Earth - kind of like recycling. I usually do this, but today it worked really well and made me feel a lot better. As I was breathing out the Earth energy, I visualiazed a large green field extending off into the horizon - and I put all the recycled energy there. To help heal the Earth.

During my Free Swim, I tried to focus on the question of what the Dragon means to me in my cosmology. This is a question that I am always seeking an answer to, and especially after my chats on Friday with Alexis, on the Pagan board about Dragons, it got me thinking that perhaps it is my symbol of spirit - and what I want my spirit to become. I thought of the characteristics of Dragons, and I came up with: Strong, Wise, Helpful, Humorous...all things I strive to be in daily life.

I saw lots of swirls of red energy while I was in my sacred space.

5/2/08 08:44 am - more with stones and dragons and elementals

Today I used the stones in the same way as yesterday, however instead of removing the kambaba jasper from my root chakra after the tree meditation, I left it there and added the leopard jasper to its place on my third eye. I saw a lot of green color swirling about when I was working with the kambaba jasper alone. When I added the leopard, I also did my call to the dragons. Out of the clouds of my mind, definite shapes did emerge - there were dragon snouts and wings and it looked like they were flying towards me. I was floating in and out of consciousness, but everytime I would bring myself back, there was lots of swirling energy I could see in my mind's eye.

Also lately (well today and yesterday) when I am calling  the elements, I really take a moment to reflect on them and feel their energies, each being very different , so that I can link their associations to something tangible - like Earth is always easy for me to relate to - because I spend some much time with it, on it and its energy is everywhere. Water too, is easier to relate to, as I can visit it whenever I want being by the sea. But of course, when I was in Jamaica last week, taking pictures of Roberto playing in the water, it was amazing to see all the formations water makes when still framed in a photo. Plus the lunar aspects of water makes it easy to connect. Air is difficult - but if I relate to it as oxygen and the air I breathe - a life giving force, it makes it easier. Fire to is one that is hard to relate to - unless I am thinking about the sun, or the fire that helps me cook. So there is still a lot of work and understanding to be done with the elements - especially because they all also relate to each other - so there are bits of overlap.

5/1/08 08:31 am - It has been a while

Since I posted a journal entry. I have been away the past several weeks getting ready for and celebrating my wedding and honeymoon. I am sorry to admit that during this time there was not much by the way of formal daily meditations, but I am happy to report that there was much mindfulness meditation going on. Each day I was focused and present in the moment - holding on to snapshots and memories I wanted to paint in my mind to refer to later when I want to go back to those special moments. It made the time seem to move slower, which was good. The honeymoon, which was a week, felt even longer and when we returned, we both commented that it felt that we had been away for so much longer. So I am happy to announce that I am happily married and as of yesterday am continuing with my formal daily meditations.

Anna bought me two stones while she was here. I was never really drawn to working with stones in the past, but I was drawn to these and so I am going to start working with them. I purified them in salt over night and then consecrated them with the 4 elements. One, Kambaba Jasper is green with balck spots, used for grounding and connecting with the Earth's natural rythms. I placed this at my root chakra during the tree meditation. The other stone is another Jasper, Leopard Jasper, used for shamanic journeying, self-healing and creative visualization. I used this on my crown chakra, during the free swim of my mediatation. I will also use it for working with astral projection, and visiualizations.

4/7/08 08:18 am - What do I believe?

I know that my beliefs are not as common as one would think. I have spent the last 10 years as a Pagan, unable to identify myself as anything else. There are no belief systems that I have found under the blanket of "Paganism" that fit with me. Mostly because I find so many branches way to complex. Complexity to me always sems to equate to off the path of truth. Things are not complcated - they are beautifulin their simplicity.  have always seen our natural world and the way the universe works as perfectly simple. So here is what I believe:

1) I believe in the cycles of Nature  and Duality- sun and moon, seasons, tides, night and day, life and death waxing and waning. Within these dualities I see the face of the Goddess and God.  The just ARE. These are human interpretations of the cycles of life. They are primal and simple. The world turns and we go with it. Understanding these cycles brings me closer to the truth of understanding how the fabric of the universe is made up.

2) I believe in the elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. These things make up our natural world. Without them we would die. Because of this I am revert towards them, as well as thankful. Because of them I live, without them, we would not survive. In these I see the faces of the Faerie Folk. They are primordial - like the elements, they can be used for good or bad. They can be manipulated by humans and therefore their allegiances are not firm. Better understanding of these, helps me to understand how I play a part in the fabric of the universe. Since humans can affect the elements, although we have a perfect universe, with humans and our ability to think and manipulate, we have played with this fabric and changed somethings that can not be undone. That is why there are diseases that cannot be cured, because we have damaged all the medicine in the forests. We rely too much on technology - things are simpler than this.

All religions have the same truth - they are just representative of different paths towards that truth. Like language. That is why people need to stop fighting over religion - there is no right and wrong - there just IS a truth and different ways to get to that truth.

So the big question that is left is, what does the Dragon represent in my life and cosmology. With this understanding, I unlock the door to the next level. There is obviously an affinity there - so what does it represent?

3/26/08 08:13 am - Working with Dragons

So far my work with Dragons has lead me to see that each elemental is associate with a dragon - or there are dragons that are the personification of te elementals. I haven't quite figured that part out yet, but I know they are one in the same.

NORTH: EARTH: This dragon is a dryad. He represents the Earth itself. What befalls the Earth directly affects him. Part of him is green and bright and healthy, the other is fading into darker hues, has less fluid and is giving over to the process of decay. His scales are the bark of trees, his horns, the branches and his feet the roots, going deep into the Earth.
We need to plant more trees and plants that give off oxygen - life giving oxygen for the planet. If all the trees die, like this dragon, there will be nothing left.
symbols: love, growth, green, health, nourishment

EAST: AIR: This dragon is so large that you can never see all of him. The clouds way above are his scales.  His body is like the ozone itself - a shield for Mother Earth. But just like the Earth Dragon he is wounded as well. His soft spot is hurt from all the Earth's pollution. We can send white healing energy from the earth to the air, bringing balance.
symbols: blueish-silver, cold, moonstone, sleep, breeze

SOUTH: FIRE: This dragon is a volcano - through the fire the erupts from his mouth, there is a white light in the center of it - Earth's energy coming from the core of the Earth - the cauldron from which life on this planet gets its energy. The dragon is the cauldron and the cauldron is the volcano. He is large, coiling and black - covered in soot and tar. With the healing of the earth, comes destruction - as the fire rains down upon him while at the same time,  he spews the white energy forth. It consumes him and he rises from the ashes - like a phoenix - it sacrifices itself to heal the earth. Nutrients from the volcanic ash, give rise to healing the planet. This is the dragon to heal all the other dragons.
symbols: life, destruction, healing, fire, ash, sacrifice

WEST: WATER: So far this dragon has remained elusive. Sometimes I see myself near a large lake, I hear water dripping and out of the water I see a huge dark shape rising. Perhaps this lake is the cauldron of re-birth associated with the element of water. But I am always thinking in these moments that  I am not afraid - even though it is so near to me. But if it were anything else, even a much smaller alligator, I would be filled with fear. It has to do with facing fears, or recognition of the dragon as my spirit guide, because I do not fear them.

Maybe is it not the Water Dragon, but just a general dragon showing himself to me, because I am continuing to work with Dragon energies more.....

3/21/08 08:28 am - Blessed Ostara!

Today could not have been any different than yesterday. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the sounds of spring are everywhere. This mornings meditation was relaxing and peaceful as I was visualizing all the things I hope to bring to fruition in the next part of the year, this year and in the not too distant future. My goals, my quests and my journeys.

1) To get married this April and work consistently to create a beautiful life together
2) To get pepperoncino and to raise him to be a wonderful companion for both of us and our family
3) To continue my work in the foodie world - helping people to make their foodie careers successful, work on websites and go to London to host the TV show
4) Work on a plan to get out of debt so that we can simplify our lives, help people more and live off the grid
5) Have a baby  - raise her to be self-reliant, independent, strong and beautiful in mind, body and soul
6) Work with Dragons and Dragon Energy in my quest to help heal the earth and protect my family and loved ones
7) Work with the Elementals - the foundations of how energy in the universe works - so that I may understand them and work with them towards the greater good
8) Work with the Faery Folk to the same end
9) Continue to be more ecologically and sustainably minded when it comes to purchases, food purchase and preparation and all areas of domestic life
10) Give back to the earth and its inhabitants as much or more than I take
11) Work through my anger and frustration so I can see more clearly and become a more compassionate and loving soul
12) Continue in my path to become a better human being
13) Become more mindful each and every day and with each thing I do in my life so that I am fully alive in each moment
14) Be truly grateful for the life I have and do my best to help others achieve the same

3/20/08 08:16 am - Negative Energy

Last night I had a strange dream. There was an old woman, a nanny and she was teaching the children black magick. She had enchanted their mother so that she would stay out of it - whenever the mother came to the door of the nursery, the old woman would get a really evil and creepy look on her face and chant something to the mother, which would make the mother turn away from the door and leave them.  This took place around the turn of the century - from what I could tell from the clothing. Anyway, sometimes I was one of the children. And I remember in one of those moments I was turning pages in a book - which was a journal that I keep in real life, from 10 years ago - and in it was names of the Goddesses and their attributes.

So when I went to meditate this morning, I kept feeling a cold prickling sensation up my spine - so I knew something was lingering. I did my regular preparations - greeting all the elements, the Goddess and God and lighting the spirit candle, but when it came to sitting down to meditate, it just felt so weird.

So I decided to do a cleansing of the house. I called on the 4 elemental dragons for protection. I also used incense to clear away the negativity and then sprinkled the water from the western quadrant of my altar to purify the house. This second step helped the most. I could feel the negative energy clustered in the office, the bedroom and in the hallway in between both with a little cluster in the living room, in between the windows. The kitchen seemed to be not affected - it felt warm and cozy!

I am also burning Dragon's Breath oil to permeate the house.

Tomorrow on Ostara I had planned to do a cleansing with Copal and Rosemary. Which I will still do.

http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/amethystbt/dragonshighmagick.html

1)Not everyone is supposed to work Dragon Magick. Before you work with dragons, take some time to look at yourself. Do like dragons for who they are, or are you just interested in power? Do you feel you would do better in other area's of magick? If you feel dragon magick is not for you, then don't do it.

2)Dragons are not evil in anyway. If you think they are, your in the wrong place. Dragons are creatures of wisdom and knowledge, and provided great protection and can lend great power when needed, but only to help, never to harm.

3)Dragons are picky about who they work with. They know people's true intentions, and will only show themselves if they are sure that they can trust you.

4)Dragons will not work with silly things like love spells or anything of the sort.

5)Dragons are great with Protection and Healing Magick

6)Have fun!! Dragons love to relax after ritual. Dancing and Singing are their favorite ways to let loose.

7)Always be polite. Ask them to join you and thank them when they leave. They hate rude people.

CALLING DRAGONS:

The first thing one should do is create an atmophere that will attract dragons. Pictures and statuary will help. The next thing is to take a good look at yourself and decide if you are ready. Do you think you have what it takes to work with dragons? They are not a force to be controlled or manipulated. They are creatures far older and wiser than us, and if you try to pull one over them, they are not gonna be happy. It is for a serious person, who wants to cultivate a friendship and partnership, not someone who just wants power. Working with dragons requires that you earn their trust and friendship by showing that you are worthy of it. This doesn't mean you must be perfect. Dragons realize that humans aren't perfect, nor is the world we live in. but, if you put some effort into it, and do what you can, you will find some great friends.

How some people greet them is by lighting a bit of sandalwood incense, because sandalwood is an incense for all dragons, as is dragon's blood. Then, close your eyes and either think or say my message of friendship to the dragons. Generally it starts off "I call to the dragons of this plane and others with this offering of incense, to extend my hand of friendship and companionship." Then, say whatever you think is appropriate. There are other ways to, like contacting them in astral travel or mediatation, or there are rituals as well.

Try not to make promises you can't keep. make your intentions very clear, that you wish for friendship and a partnership in magick, and you will become aware of their prescense. Do this a few times, I think about five, before you may feel some prescense in your room, or where you do the ritual. The dragons are probably going to check you out first, before they make any contact.

Try to set up dates where you can meet the dragons without being disturbed. Do the ritual whenever you can.

Blessed be and the best of luck to you. remember, be a friend, and you'll get a friend.

RIDING THE CHAOS DRAGON:

Riding The Dragon

This ritual is for riding a Chaos Dragon. The main reason for riding a dragon is so that the magiccian can remove barriers and obstacles, inanimate or animate, that impede forward progress. However, know that a Chaos Dragon will go straight to the heart of the problem and break down the barriers, whether you really wanted them gone or not. What you think is the best solution might not be, so be prepared for all consequences. You should be able to release all negative feelings about the situation when the ride is over though.

Perform this ritual during the evening or the wanning Moon, with the New Moon being the strongest.

Supplies:
Pentacle Disk,
dragon Pentacle,
water chalice with some fresh water in it,
dish of salt,
wine chalice,
black or dark purple altar candles,
sword,
wand,
incense burner,
binding incense and/or dragon's blood (basil or patchouli work well),
gong or bell,
staff.

Cast the Dragon Circle, useing counter-clockwise motions, and calling the elements in reverse order. When you kneel before the altar with the sword in both hands, project your interest and plea for help from the dragons of chaos and destruction as strongly as you can. Continue this for several minutes. Then say:
"Behold all dragons of darkness and change, I (magickal name if you have one), seek your dragon magick. With (name of sword) in my hand, i enter your realm, not for physical battle, but for knowledge and power. I greet you, O dragons ancient and wise. I await your presence."

Continue with the Dragon Circle until you are ready to do spellwork. Take the sword in your power hand, the staff in the other. Stand facing the altar and tap the staff three times on the floor while holding the sword pointed at the dragon pentacle. Chant in tones that vibrate through your body:
"Come, Draconis! Come Draconis, to my call! Dragons of Chaos, hear me! Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!"

Either remain standing or sit before the altar. Close your eyes and visualize yourself astride the back of a great dragon of darkness. The dragon is swiftly winging through the night, blowing great billows of smoke and fire. See him/her zooming down on your problems, scattering them, turning them into ashes. DO NOT specifically try to harm someone. Feel the excitement and rush of joy as you realize you are now free. Open your eyes, and feel within yourself the power of the dragon. Know that you are going to win over your obstacles.

Take the sword in you power hand and go to the East. While chanting, cut and slash at the East:
"The Dragons of destruction and chaos are with me. We destroy all problems and evil comming from the East!"

Do the same at the North while saying:
"The Dragons of destruction and chaos are with me. We destroy all problems and evil comming from the North!"

West:
"The Dragons of destruction and chaos are with me. We destroy all problems and evil comming from the West!"

South:
"The Dragons of destruction and chaos are with me. We destroy all problems and evil comming from the South!" Return to the altar. Still holding the sword in you power hand, take the staff in the other. Tap the staff three times and chant:

"Transformation is my will.
Use your power my desire to fill.
I thank you, dragons old and wise, Of Earth and Fire, Water, Skies, for sharing wisdom here with me.
As we will, so shall it be!"

Now you can close down the circle, dismissing the element dragons in reverse order.

PROTECTION:

Sometimes it becomes necessary to cleanse and seal where you live. This ritual can help cleanse the place of bad vibrations and other things. But before you cleanse your house because you think your being haunted by Jack the Ripper (by the way, it is very rare that demons and other bad things are going to just show up in your house and start doing bad things, so, don't get to carried away), think if there is anything going on in the house right now that could be causing bad vibrations. Maybe your house is just very stressful. Before you get rid of anything, see if there are any guilty feelings, and get rid of them. Uncover and purge all deeply felt emotions. This alone can get rid of whatever bad feelings you might have (another note, it usually isn't a ghost in your house, just bad feelings. I have a room in my house that i can't go in without feeling angry. It's just that the people who live there fill the room with bad emotions. That is what cleansing rituals are usually for, getting rid of bad emotions).

This ritual is also good for cleaning your ritual space the first time you use it. This ritual can be performed at any time. If you work alone, set all of your supplies on a tray to carry them around.

Supplies needed: The pentacle, water chalice with fresh water, dish of salt, black (left) and white(right) altar candles, dagger, incense burner, an appropriate binding or cleansing incense (frankincense or basil), bell.

Go to your altar and call all your dragons to help you. Light the altar candles. Set the chalice on the pentacle with the salt dish beside it. Light the incense, with plenty of additional incense available in case it is needed-which it will be as you go through the house.

Stand for a moments communing with the dragons. You do not have to know precsely what is causing your problems. Say:
"O great dragons, wondrous, wise,
Powers of Water, Earth, Fire, and Skies
Light and Darkness, join me here
To sweep this space all clean and clear.
Away with evil, in with right,
Dragons of Darkness and of Light.
Elementals, strong and old,
Restore the balance, dragons bold."

Plunge your dagger into the dish of salt, then into the chalice of water. " As salt dissolves in water, so shall the hold of all negatives on my person or property dissolve."

Useing the tip of your dagger blade, put three small piles of salt in the water. Stir it three times clockwise (remember to carefully clean the blade after, or it will rust). Now place the bell, chalice of salt water, dagger, and burning incense on the tray.

Begin the ritual in the room you are in, and begin your circling of the room at the door, moving clockwise. First carry the incense around, then draw a banishing pentagram at each window, door, and mirror (a banishing pentagram is a star. Start at the top and draw the star counter-clockwise). Next, ring the bell before each window, door, and mirror, then each side of the opening is marked with an X by the forefinger of the power hand dipped in saltwater.

Move onto the other rooms you wish to cleanse. You should try to end at a door leading outside, because you are pushing all of the bad energy out of your house when you do this ritual. When you are finished with that room, open the door and yell "Be gone!" and quickly shut the door and seal it with an X and banishing pentagram (hopefully no one will be standing right outside your door). Don't forget to do the basement to, since it is so close to the earth, it is a place where some entities can hide from banishment. Immediatly pour the saltwater down the drain or in a stream moving away from you and clean the chalice. Take all of your equipment back to the altar and stoke up the incense again. Using your hands, pull the smoke over your body until you feel a lightness of spirit. Call your guardian dragons, and with great love and friendship, ask their aid in protecting you and your property and loved ones. be sure to include the names of any pets you have. Spend some time singing or dancing with them. Your house should feel empty now, but you want to fill it with good things so that bad things can't fill up the space.

Project very positive vibrations while you say:

"Light calls to light.
Only those of light may enter here.
The way is barred to all who wish me harm.
I give my greeting only to the light."

Soon you will feel the great adult dragons returning to your ritual area. Greet them with dignity and thanks for helping you. Listen closely if they have any suggestions on the problems cause and further preventions. When the dragons have finished their communications, thank them again and finish by saying:

"Farewell to you, O dragons fair,
Fire, Water, Earth, and Air.
Together we make magick well
By power deep and dragons spell.
In peace go now. Return once more
To teach me magick and ancient lore.
Draconis! Draconis! Draconis!"

Put more incense on the burner as a thank you and extinguish the candles.

Dragons - Guardians

The Guardian Dragons are adept at their tasks and quite skilled in fulfilling their charges. Remember that their place is to guard and keep secret, not to do anything else, and while they may try... success is not guaranteed.

That comes from not following the hierarchy. Other tasks may be asked of other dragons for whom the task falls closest to their sphere of influence. Guardian Dragons may be called to serve for a brief period of time (length of a trip ) or for an indefinite time frame (length of a marriage).

Guardian dragons are the most friendly of the species and the most fun-loving. Then enjoy simple impromptu rituals that include dancing, singing, and general fun. Simple, very relaxed rituals are an excellent was to introduce children into the field of ritual and getting acquainted with dragons. It is also a very good way for adults to unwind and release stress.

These dragons are attracted to ginger and sweet-smelling and spicy incenses. They are greatly interested in divination and have a tendency to hang over your shoulder while you are reading cards or practicing crystal gazing, for instance. They are interested in stories, especially if the dragon in portrayed as powerful wily, and not defeated by puny mortals.

If you are having trouble visualizing your dragons, try using a piece of rock crystal. It does not have to be flawless, nor does it have to have points. It would appear that this type of crystal acts as a kind of magnifying glass to the psychic through the third eye in the middle of the forehead. When you have mastered the technique with rock crystal, experiment with other kinds of translucent rocks.

Remember, dragons have individual tastes in things, just as humans do.

Chant:

"LITTLE DRAGONS, RAINBOW BRIGHT
GOOD FRIENDS OF THIS FAMILY,
SEND GOOD WISHES TO US ALL
JOIN OUR RITUALS MERRILY,
PROTECT US THROUGH EACH DAY AND NIGHT
WHILE AWAKE OR WHILE ASLEEP
THROUGH YOUR LOVE AND VIGILANCE
DO THIS FAMILY KEEP"

There are THREE methods for summoning them, one for immediate needs, one for the short term need and one for the long term. All of which need to have an ending point to their service. They cannot be summoned to stay forever. Bear the time frame in mind as you summon them and thank them afterward.

SUMMONING THE GUARDIAN DRAGONS:

TYPE 1: THE SUDDEN NEED SUMMONING:
This summoning is short and to the point. Usually used to protect the caster or another in a sudden crisis.

Here are several incantations for just such moments:

"By Dragon wing and Dragon claw,
My(his/her) Defense is without flaw."
"Shrouded by Dragon might
Remove me(him/her) from their(his/her) sight."
"Fly before me (him/her) Dragon bright,
And blind my(his/her) foe with Thy light"
"Full of rage and terrible ire,
Burn them(him/her) with Thy Dragon Fire!"
"Dark and terrible be Thy wrath,
Dragon, protect me (him/her)on my(his/her) path!"

Make the Sign of the Guardian (either in the air or on your brow)
In the Air, pull thumb and pinkie fingers into the palm and with middle, index and ring fingers draw three lines at once. Then bending the ring and middle into the palm, draw one line down the right side of the other three. On a surface simply draw it as you would in the air.

Sign Of The Guardian:
Once the task is completed say

" Guardian Dragon thanks be to you,
My friend both steadfast and true!"

TYPE 2: THE SHORT TERM PROTECTION.
This summoning is used for short term goals and needs such as protecting an object being leant, or anything for a brief period, such as a car ride or elevator trip. Mark the object to be protected with the sign of the guardian and repeat the incantation below:

"Gentle Guardian wise and strong
keep it(me, him/her) as it (I, he/she) doth belong.
Safe within thy charge and care,
the current problem to fare.
No harm to come or ill to befall
Guarded and safe through it all!"

TYPE 3: THE LONG TERM NEED
This form of summoning is closer to permanent as we would perceive it. Yet in this for you must still work with a time frame in mind, however distant it may be.

Guardian Dragons may be summoned in this fashion for protection of people places and things needing or deserving long term care (such as children, houses, spouses, etc). Multiple objects can be protected with but a change in grammar, but they must be together for a single dragon to protect ( the objects become a mini- horde).

"Dragon brave and Dragon wise,
let nothing escape your eyes.
I summon your from your hidden lair,
(name object here) is entrusted to your care.
Permit no harm to come to ( named object) within your sight,
in your presence let all evils take flight.
No baneful creature born of flesh or spirit,
may touch (name object) nor even come near it.
Let those that would bring harm,
be filled with fright and alarm.

These dragons can be found in bodies of water, and can be seen working with dragons of wind, strom, and weather, mountains and forests, or those of destruction.

The positive associations of Fire are noon, summer, the dagger and sword, candles, incense burner, any kind of helpful fire, the sun, blood, enthusiasm, activity, change, passion, courage, daring, will power, leadership.

EARTH:

Earth rules the Norther quarter, and Grael(grail) is its dragon ruler. Earth's color is clear, dark green, and it is cold and dry. FIRE:

The element of Fire governs the Southern quarter of the circle, and that elements dragon ruler is Fafnir (faf'-near), who oversees the dragons of fire and sunbeams. Fire's color is pure red, and is considered warm and dry.

WATER:

The element of Water rules the western quarter of the circle. Its dragon ruler is Naelyan (nail'-yon), who oversees the dragons of the seas, springs, lakes, ponds and rivers. Its color is pure blue, and it is cold and moist. I summon thee,
From your travels of afar,
And luck so near,
Come before me,
I summon thee.

Put more incense on the burner as a thank you and extinguish the candles.

3/14/08 08:24 am - New Steps/ More Questions

So lately I have been feeling at a crossroads. I have been a Pagan all my life, but a practicing Pagan for over 10 years. I have never really found a path that resonated with me completely - but the one constant that has been in my life, my dreams, my meditations and my magic has been Dragons. Yet, I have never really found a path that deals specifically with Dragons. Yes there are books about Dragon Magic and adding it to a pre-existing paradigm, but nothing really stand alone.

Over the past few years, I have fallen away from my path. I was dealing with a lot of personal issues and go through much spiritual growth, but I wasn't doing rituals anymore and I wasn't really praying in the ways that I used to. There was a disconnect.

Lately though, over the last 3-4 months I have been wanting to get back into a more spiritual routine, so I began the daily practice of meditation  - reminding my body and soul how to ground myself, visualize, protect myself,  chakra work, a little reiki, etc - all the basics....and that part is going really well - however, I feel like I am not tapping all the way in, if you know what I mean.

So the last two days during meditation - I have just been keeping my mind open to recieve knowledge of where to go from here - what should I be doing now, what is the next thing to look into - what is the next step. So I am very relaxed and my mind is going out and all of a sudden I feel like I need to wake myself up - like I am falling asleep - but then I realize that I was not sleeping - that someone was talking to me, giving guidance, but as soon as I try to focus on the last words I can remember, it just fades away and the more I try to get it back, the farther it recedes.
One subject was about elemental dragons - dragons that are caretakers or guardians of each element....then there was another part about how to breathe better during meditation - I saw myself sitting where I was sitting and there was a woman behind me with her hands on my shoulders, teaching me something - but try as I might I can't get it back...

Has anyone else experienced this before? Does anyone else have techniques to try to "stay in the moment" of the meditation without  "coming back to reality" and loosing a grasp of the lesson?
I feel like I need to break through this to get to the next level.

Sorry if this is really long and disjointed, but it all has a meaning.

3/12/08 10:36 am

Today I actually had one of the most relaxing meditations I have had in some time. It really felt like I wasn't even in my body anymore. When I came out of it, I was struck by how erect my back still was and that I didn't feel it during the mediation. I focused on the question of where to go next during meditation but nothing really came to me yet.

3/11/08 08:17 am - What is next?

Today in meditation I did my breathing excersises and worked a little on chakra healing and reiki - just to get back in the swing of things. I know I was sick last week, but I think there is somethng more that kept my from my meditation - feeling stuck...this happens to me sometimes. I start reading books and doing excersises - and then for a variety of reasons , I am not able to do some of the exersises - like working closely with the Faery Folk when I live in a city and don't have private space to do this, or sometimes excersises call for a partner, and I don't really have one at my disposal to work with. Then there is the issue underneath it all - can I REALLY even accomplish and do these excersises? Do I have the patience to keep doing them, until I get them right...?

I guess this is my issue with noth having a particular path to follow yet. I get to these points and I am not really sure where to go from here...I don't really have the answer yet, but I know thies feeling or insecurity is what holds me back. It is something I have to work with myself, because it is difficult to talk to anyone about it, because people who aren't on a similar path can't understand and I haven't really found a group I feel comfortable sharing these thoughts with...so again, I am not sure where to turn to or who....

I have been sick this whole past week, so I took a break from meditation...I am going to start up again tomorrow!

But in the week before I focused mainly on chakra meditation, creating a shield and such - a lot of protection type meditation.

2/25/08 08:09 am - Monday Again...

and again, I have a hard time concentrating and really being able to focus and relax in my meditation. I am still struggling a lot with this name change thing. I guess what it comes down to for me is 1) the belonging issue and 2) the societal issues. I guess I hate that the woman is the who is expected to do the name change if the partners will share a last name. I feel like if a name is going to be changed - both people should change - to reflect the union. The coming together of both people. So I suggested to R about hyphenating our last names so we each take each others. And his response was about the societal norms and that after everything we went though with my family this year - the name is tainted. I got so mad, considering that I have been entertaining the idea of changing my last name to his, despite all the misgivings I have about the name since his ex kept it...so I feel like, if he can't meet me half way, there is no reason that I should go ALL the way. So I guess I am keeping my name. I wish I could have come to this decision without all the anger and hurt and argument. But it is something that is very important to me.

So last week in meditation, I spent a lot of time doing Reiki on myself and trying to unblock the solar plexus and third eye chakras. I spent a lot of time just trying to take care of myself.

I am not sure what this week holds - possibly understanding more about the 4th elemental dragon - the Water Dragon. But we shall see.

2/18/08 08:11 am - Monday Again...

I think I am making a lot of headway into understanding why I have been feeling so frustrated as of late - it has to do with changing my name when R and I get married. See, I always associate HIS last name with his ex, because she kept his name after the divorce - so she is always Mrs. ____ to me, and I can't connect to that being my last name. However, it tears me up in side thinking that he and I won't share a common last name. I have always had "belonging" issues that stem from my adoption, and with R, I know I really belong at a  universal level - for the first time in my life. So I really want to share a name with him, but I am not sure that I can get over his ex having the same last name. I need to somehow stop seeing her as Mrs. R.

So in other news, we joined a meditation group. I am not sure of some of the people there - because they talk to their spirit guides prettymuch all the time - so I wonder if they are schizophrenic or mistaking their inner voice for spirit guides. However, that aside I really enjoyed it. We did some Reiki, which I found I sorely missed and now I know I need to start doing some Reiki on myself more often. Perhaps it can help me with this healing. But before we went I was looking out the wondow, up over the houses across the street and just zoning out and I saw what I think was a tree spirit. It was almost like the branches made his face and long hairy ears - he looked a bit like Yoda. I just sat there looking at him and when I looked away and looked back, he was gone...strange.

Then last night our group, we did a beach meditation and the message I kept recieving is "The Sky is The Limit".

And as always, Monday is the hardest day in Meditation, because, I can't stop thinking about all the things I have to do - after the weekend.
